Village Friend

Our’s is a social Village. There are many fine craft breweries within a day's march. We visit with them often to trade stories and pints. We talk about the Ales we've met and the ones we hope to meet. Sometimes, a beer sounds so beautiful that we decide to brew it together. And we call it what we call each other – Friend.

You've Found Me - Now See Where I've Been

You've Found me - Now see where I've been The Village Friar – you can call him Larry – appeared at the birth of one of our founders in a small town in Germany. He followed the lad around Europe and across Canada, eventually settling in Calgary where he blesses the Village beer. Hey, we just noticed that Larry is also the name of our brewmaster. Weird!

Bret "The Hitman" Hart makes another Prairie Oyster Ale

Some days it’s pretty much impossible to say what Bret “The Hitman” Hart does is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. It’s hard to say this cause some days, like today, Bret made a beer with bulls balls. That’s right a beer made with seared bull testicles and sour cherries.

Village NutRaiser 2020

This will be our eighth year hosting the Village Nutraiser, a fundraiser for the Prostate Cancer Centre. And we see no end to this madness in our future. For as long as there is Cancer we will keep tea bagging our ales to help this great organization do its work.

Cans or Bottles?

Craft beer trends are definitely pointing us towards a can filled beer cooler. People have started to come around from the dated notion that bottled beer is a more premium offering. But is one vessel better than an other? You be the judge.

A Calgary Grown Community Involved Ale

In our Village the community garden is the place to gather, grow and discuss matters of the neighbourhood. That’s why the Village Gardener project began with the idea of local growers and brewers coming together to make a collaborative beer, while learning a thing or two along the way.
